  1. That is just TOO clever and incomprehensible, Ms. AH! Wonderful, but puzzling. How on earth???? I have stared and stared! Looking forward to hearing about this, later, I hope.

  2. I stared and stared too. What I finally saw, I think, is a mural of buildings against sky, painted on a building (against sky). What I can't fathom is how the artist did this without going google-eyed. Love the angle you've shot it from, all those lines and other elements of optical confusion. Now then... where and under what circumstances did you happen upon it?

  3. This was in New York near Greenwich Village. I was just standing looking up and at first didn't catch the mural and when I did I was astonished - keeping in mind this works from a distance but the artist would have been up close and having to paint around all the fire escapes etc.

  4. Maybe they did it by projecting the image onto the building and drawing the outlines, then filling it in like a paint by number. But really incredibly challenging with the different levels involved. When I see things like this I always want to try to do something similar, though I probably never would really. Wonderful photo anyway!

  5. My eye loves this ... mesmerizing. I confess I cannot figure out the layers, but who cares. It's a spectacular piece of photographic artwork, with it's many layers of vivid colours and textures on a backdrop of beautiful blue sky. WOW, Allison!
