Apart from the plane and what it is doing there, I am also curious about the canvas with its back to us. The whole photo has far more than a "hint of hmmm", as Allyson would say. It reminds me of Nevil Shute's WWI stories of pilots (literate or not) just shifting their planes around to fit into convenient corners.
I remember seeing this shot of yours a while ago and it's stayed with me. I love the incongruity of it. You're so observant to have spotted it as a photo op. It's colourful and curious and comical!
I see this as the cover a book titled: "The Annoying Habits of Illiterate Pilots"...
