  1. That is so wonderful Allison -- hard to believe it's not part of a "musical" or stage play...three naughty boys and all dressed the same, school uniforms? Or actually time out from a school play? Are they (could they???) be secretly chugging beer? I can't make out the labels. A wonderful shot.

  2. These are Mennonite boys taking a chug from yogurt drinks Barbara. They almost had a surreptitious look about them, the way they were huddled there, as though the drinks might have been too worldly.

  3. What a stunning WW shot, Allison. Love the story it tells ... the boys' suits are dusty (hard work) juxtaposed against the trolly (evidence of recent labours), the hats beautifully white (sun protection) and the beverage bottles ... glossy (a modern world reward). Love it.

  4. Oh my god, yes. Apart from the perfection! of framing and the b&w choice, the story... such fun. They're knocking those yogurt drinks back like hootch and I'll bet that's how illicit it feels. Also the hint of the 'no smoking' sign just adds to the sneaky moment feel of the whole thing. It's touching, really, to think how much this might mean to kids who rarely get store bought stuff.

  5. Indeed, all those observations fit!

  6. How absolutely double-intriguing now that I know who they are and what they are chugging! This is a winner!

  7. At first glance, probably because of the B&W treatment, this looked to me like kids dressed up in period clothes ... perhaps like gangsters, for a school play. The B&W gives it an old-fashioned feel, as does the fact they're in what looks like a back alley (it probably isn't!) "knocking back" the yogurt drinks, as Carin said, like hootch. This shot's intriguing and fun -- and story fodder for sure.
