"Silent and stern, he watched her climb the stairs. No, 'WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?' No, ''DO YOU KNOW THE HOUR???' ' That would all come, though, before the night was over…"
Stunning mask, Allison! The carver must have searched for the perfect piece of wood for this carving ... the pupils in the their proper placement and equal shades of rose!
What a gorgeous mask -- the choice of wood, the symmetry and power of the carved features. I have the urge to touch what looks like it's smooth surface. I'm fascinated by masks, but I don't know enough about them to even hazard a guess as to where this might be from. Is it yours? Or in a museum?
My talented husband carved this:)
So beautiful. What kind of wood is it? The head looks like brains. What a talent. That it's giving pleasure to so many now might be some small consolation?
The patterns in the wood, and the way the sculptor has used them to such advantage… just amazing!
