  1. Oh, how lovely. This looks like a painting. How ever did you create this effect? I can't take my eyes off the natural pattern of swirls and shades in the water. (Have they been formed only from light and shadow, or also from ice?) And that sky! And just a hint of pristine snow. Here are some of my favourite colours in one serene scene. It's like a meditation.

  2. Ally, that is all ice on the lake, making the swirls. I played with the colour!

  3. Is this from God's Mountain? How amazing to see the frozen lake. This is terrific, chill and thrilling. I remember skating on the edges of the lake once --- and an older cousin recalls ice-boating down the whole length of it when he was a kid -- obviously much smoother than the wind-churned frozen waves below! What a great picture. And I love the blue tones.

  5. Barbara, it's taken from the west side of the lake looking towards God's Mountain roughly.

  6. I need to learn where is God's Mountain. If I'm on the (back most) patio of the Merganser, in which direction do I look to find it? I suspect it's at the other end of things but my entire orientation of Penticton is from the Merganser... (: Stunning shot, Allison. Love the way you played with colour. And I love when ice is like this. Rare here.

  7. Wow! I don't think I've ever seen ice like that. It's spectacular and so marvellously blue and swirly.
