  1. "Fat" biking, Allison? Popular at winter sport at home when the Sound freezes over ...

  2. Yes, he definitely had fat tires on the bike Cheryl. I was intrigued by the way that he balanced on that thin line between shore and water. He looked quite contemplative as he rode all away along the lake then back again.

  3. That balance along the thin line is just one of the things that makes this picture perfect for this liminal moment of the year! The sepia effect also contributes so much to that feeling of "past and present", memory and what lies ahead, all the things that we tend to reflect on as time itself seems to balance for a moment before rolling ahead towards ... things not yet clearly seen. A lovely and evocative shot.

  4. Love how the tree in the foreground is sharp while the focal point, the biker, is not. Therein lies the conflict: what IS the story? Man or nature? Ah, but of course... both. And nature always wins. (:

  5. I like the lines of branches and shore shooting off at various angles, and the sepia gives it a beautiful golden effect as well as evoking nostalgia. A lovely shot for Christmas!
